Q. My Dad has the Nokia Lumia and his battery seems to die really quick. Is there a way to close running apps in the background like you can do with an iPhone?

Goto Settings -> Applications -> Background tasks and select the app that you want to disable..
For Battery related issues, please check if you have the latest updates (1600.2487.8107.12070) for Lumia which fixed the battery problems.. If you still have issues take the phone to the Nokia Priority shop for replacement.
